Not my favourite colour, but that's just personal taste....what I really like is the way that the colour emphasises the ripple, which is far less visible in the bowl compared with the rim.

Jason,

welcome to the forum, I hope this is your first post of many as it's a dramatic start.

As always there are two schools of thought, those that like coloured work (and the others). Personally I'm all for it where it carries the wood beyond what it had as a plain turning.

I like the work and finish. I think the green my be a little weak in itself a slightly stronger colour would carry better against the cherry, here I am thinking down the years as the cherry darkens.

I've also peeked at your web-site, there is some more even more interesting work there.

Jason,

A read on your website paints a picture as too where you're at with your Turning ... As with wet yellow & blue together makes a wash of green ... Highlights just enough (as green goes) not to detract from the figure of a nice piece of cherry.

Admired Your Work For A While Now Jason..... A Lovely First Post Piece...... Although The Colour Is Not Quite
To Our Taste,  Nonetheless It Has Enhanced And Shown Off The Figure  Well. Very Smart.

Hi Jason.
Very nice but I think a small grove would have highlighted the bowl and broken up the plainness.

this is a pleasant bowl to my mind, but I just went on your website and think you should show your true skills by putting the coral pierced and airbrushed bowl on here, that`s a beautiful piece of art

Thanks to all,
some interesting comments!
George - I know what u mean (and would agree in most instances with other bowls) but thought it would distract from the figure in this case.
Bryan - a thoughtful comment regarding the cherry darkening! - the voice of experience; and something to consider for the future. had i thought about that when turning it, I probably wouldn't have left the colour quite as i did!

well...you live and learn!
cheers to all of you

why do i feel the need to turn a block of wood into shavings?
