Tony's Bowl
« on: September 13, 2015, 11:47:08 AM »
A couple of weeks ago when I was Demonstrating at Yandle's show I was given a very nice Oak blank by Tony who is on here as georg.
The wood had a few crack and fissures in it so I have filled them with epoxy car filler.
The bowl is 10" x 2 1/2" finished with hard wax oil.
As this was a nice bit of wood I have made a very Simple bowl.

I like this, George....I'd not have thought of using a bog-standard car filler, but it work well with the oak.....and I like the little cut-line in the base, carrying on the theme of the simple form and cut-lines on the top.

George,

that's a very elegantly shaped bowl.

I have used car body filler before but coloured it, never liked it as the colours are always too pastel, maybe I'll try again leaving it the ordinary white.

no you allowed me to choose the good piece  ;D ;D ;D but then George has gotten first dibs for the last 3-4 times at Yandles so it was my turn.

ha ha, if I thought you would make this with it I would have had both pieces.  :)

You shoudl have undercut the bowl section to add a shadow and a bit more depth to the center, but I guess you are only starting out turning so it isn't bad.  ;D ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D :D ::) ::) :)
