Chunky bowl

I know chunky isn't everybody's taste, but I quite like it  ;D  180mm diameter, 80mm tall.  C&C welcome.

We are fans of the chunky look Chris.... Like this well turned bowl..... you seem to have got the right balance with the finish
not too shiny which brings out the grain of the Elm very well.
  Very neat and  Nicely Done
  Kind Regards

A lovely, simple form with the ideal size of foot for it, in that it's small enough to let the bowl look as though it's almost floating.

Thanks Tony & Di.  It's finished with tung oil, the first time I've used it and I must say I really like it.

Thanks Les, think I'm getting my feet under some sort of control at last!

Very nice indeed , I am a bit of a fan of chunky bowls  ( do quite a few myself )  They always look great  in a display of bowls of different types at point of sale , as do many different woods and sizes etc etc .

Another 'chunky' fan here. Glad that the inner part folows the line of the outer shape. Often that is the thing that spoils it for me but you seem to have got it just right.

Chris,

You said C&C welcome, so hopefully it's not whether we like it or not, that is a personal thing; it is about the balance, the form and the finish.

The balance is right, Pete has already noted the inner shape to the outer curve, you've also made a good job of the wide rim to give it interest. The overall shape and finish fit's together well.

Yes some won't like it and admittedly its not something I'd think to turn but that does not detract from the good work you've done.

I like this. The contrast between the bowl and the nicely shaped rim go really well together.
Thanks for sharing

I like it as been said the form flows and the curve's look good inside & out, looks a well balanced and finished piece of work :)

Technically faultless but I don't like it.

I like this. I just know that if I was turning it, I'd have that nagging feeling of needing to produce a bowl which gives maximum holding capacity and therefore a thin wall. I admire you for sticking with the chunky look and not succumbing to my tendencies.
