The colour just doesn't work for me, but that's a very personal, subjective opinion. What cannot be doubted is the quality.

I think the orange is just a little too bland for this. Especially as this is cherry, which will turn a very similar colour over time on its own, and then there's no contrast left at all.
I like the shape and the idea with the convex band around the rim (permission to copy, please?), and it's a very pleasing overall shape, but that colour doesn't work.

agreed, nicely turned but that colour is just wrong...

is the colour band supposed to be transparent?

Yes - its a semi translucent material, you can make it opaque by applying artists acrylic first but i like seeing the grain.
