Coloured Hollow Form
« on: April 15, 2016, 05:32:16 PM »
Hi all, not posted for a bit so here is my latest effort. Carrying on with a previous theme I posted "Cosmic Clouds" here is an old piece of plain Lime that needed some pizzaz added. It measures 7" (and a wee bit) by 4" and is coloured with Ebonising Lacquer and Jo Sonja paints.

C & C's welcome as usual.

That is some pizzaz indeed! Like it!  The pictures are all rotated, so I can't really judge the shape too well, but I think the foot looks a little odd. It can't quite make up its mind whether it wants to go further in or out, and so it's a little stuck in between. Having said that, it might look OK when the pictures are rotated.

Many thanks Ed, glad you like it. It's a nice and easy way to spruce up a plain old piece of wood.

Beyond giving it to a woodcarver, there can be few better uses for a big lump of lime (can you tell that I'm not a fan on lime). It has to be said that the decorative work on this piece is stunning.

Les
Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

Amazing 3D effect you have captured there Gary....... The depth of the colour shading makes it almost , as if you can
see  through and beyond the h/f into deep space. Very Effective
        Kind Regards

Hi Les, I'm not the biggest fan of lime myself but it works for this type of decoration (plus it was dirt cheap, lol) Many thanks for your comments, I'm glad you like the colouring.

I love the nebulous effect. Still trying to work out if you painted the coloured clouds with watered down iridescent paint or used a wide angle air brush.

Whatever you did, it is very effective.
