Open segment vase/urn
« on: March 11, 2017, 07:42:33 PM »
This is my latest open segment form. It is made from 2763 pieces of maple, walnut and bloodwood. It is 285mm high and 240 wide at the widest point. Wall thickness is about 8mm. The design was worked on SegmenterPro from Tom Lohman in USA? Comments welcome. Malcolm.

This is a section of turning I've never explored, not sure I'd have a fraction of your patience. It is beautiful.

Quite amazing....and the fact that you know exactly how many components there were indicates that you are of that rare breed of people who can find the patience to work on such stunning pieces as this. Thanks for sharing.

Way beyond my attention span. Beautiful work, I don't want to know how long it took

Thank you all for your kind comments. Yes it did take more than a few hours to make, most of the time in cutting and assembling the segments. Only a few hours of delicate turning. That is why I don't post that often. Thanks again. Malcolm.

As requested. Not sure why it is sideways. The original isn't. Malcolm.

Can't get it upright for some reason. Anyone know why? The original is ok. Malcolm.
