Wonderful willow!
« on: April 13, 2018, 07:22:04 PM »
I'm not usually a lover of willow.....it's not what I'd call a turners' wood and it can be a bit bland. If I hadn't cut down the tree and converted it mostly into firewood, I might not have believed that this was willow at all!
It's 11" diameter, turned from green timber to 1" thickness, stored out of doors under cover for three weeks, then finish turned....weighed daily and it was stable in a centrally heated environment just a week later, I guess that's the beauty of this sort of grain.
C&C always welcome....Les
Education is important, but wood turning is importanter.

Any idea what sort of Willow it was, that flame is stunning.

Never had willow that didn't split all over the place and certainly none that looked like that.

Nice one Les

I've got plenty of willow but it don't look anything like that, I think that I should send it to you to turn  :)

All the best
