Made from Tulip wood and stands 6 1/2" X 3" decorated with ebonising spray and Jo Sonja Iridescent paints applied with a sponge

Very delicate effect. I've a half finished version of this somewhere in my workshop, now I'm going to have to find and finish it.
Great use of tulipwood as well, not the best of woods to turn.

Thank you Les and Bryan. As you can tell by the title this is the second one like this that I have done.
I find tulipwood give me a nice finish for decorating and can get a good finish straight off of the tool. Look forward to seeing your when you have it finished.
Just as a reminder this is the first one I did.

This reminds me of a seed pod.
Someone did a series on them a few years ago but I cannot remember who.

Bob Chapman did some seed pods and a colleague of mine, Eve Claire Taylor did some with turned outers and carved inners. I think that someone else picked up on this idea and an article was written for Woodturning Magazine. If I can find out any more I will add it.

Thank you for the information I also did a seed pod box which I can't remember from where I saw the design possibly The Woodturning magazine.
The one in the above was made back in May 2016 and this one was from February 2017
