Hi does anyone know the thread size on the tailstock barrel on this lathe ,the casting has broken on the handwheel and a friend has offered to make a new one but I need to know the thread pattern .I m not an engineer and can't figure out how to measure it

If your friend is capable of making one, I suspect they can also identify the thread send them the broken one to copy.
If you need to measure it then I suspect it is an imperial thread, and this article covers the method

It looks like it's off a Record lathe so it might be worth contacting them to ask if they have spares.
